"Valentine Heart Coin Purse"

My valentine heart pattern is a very cute coin purse and makes a great Valentine Day gift.

The valentine heart motif may also be used to decorate a sweater, scarf, or an afghan rug.

This cute coin purse is shown as a plain pattern, however you may dress it up if you wish. A lace edge, some sequins or beading will make it more glamorous.

Valentine Heart Coin Purse

Make 4 pieces alike – join 2 pieces together to form each side.

Begin by working 4ch.

1st Row: Work 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in each of next 2ch, 1ch, turn.

2nd Row: Work 1dc in each of next 3dc, 1ch, turn.

3rd Row: Work 1dc in each of next 2dc, turn.

4th Row: Work 1ss in 1st dc, 1dc into next dc. Fasten off.

Join 2 halves of this cute coin purse together by placing flat edges together and working 1 round of dc around outer edge of both pieces, [not center seam].

Thread darning needle with red yarn and using a flat seam, sew center straight edge of heart halves together.

Work other side of pattern in same manner.

Cut a piece of Velcro approximately 7.5cm long. Pin carefully along inside top edge of coin purse. Sew carefully into place.

With wrong sides facing and beginning at edge to left of opening, crochet the two halves of your valentine heart coin purse together with a round of dc worked through both edges.

When you reach the other edge of the opening, continue along one half and finish the round, then work other side to match. [Work 1ss instead of 1dc in top of center seam].
