"Pink Flower Purse Pattern"

My pink flower purse pattern makes a stylish evening bag, perfect for a night out.

It’s dainty size is perfect to take out to dinner to hold money, credit cards and make-up. Make a matching coin purse to hold small change.

My pink flower evening bag is decorated with beading. The beading is not complicated. With a little patience you will master it, even if you’ve never done beading before. I will warn you though that it took me longer to do the beading than it did to crochet this purse pattern.

The handy shoulder strap is a twisted cord made from the same yarn as the evening bag. If you wanted a different style of strap, a length of chain may be purchased from a craft shop and attached to your pink flower purse in the same way as the twisted cord.

Beading – Pink Flower Purse Pattern

Thread sewing needle with pink thread and beginning in the center of one purse half, attach thread to inside of work.

From wrong side, push needle through top edge of treble on first round. Thread one small white bead, one long white bead and another small white bead over needle and down the thread.

Insert needle through very edge of same treble at center ring and pull through to wrong side. Knot thread on back of work after every group of beads like this is joined. Evenly space 10 groups like this on first row, alternating the combination of bead color as you go [small white beads with a long white bead between them, followed by small white ones with a long apricot one between them]. Fasten off.

Attach needle and thread to inside of dtr on last round. Sew one group of beads onto the front of this st. Evenly space 2 groups of beads between this dtr and next dc. Attach larger white bead to dc.

Complete outside round in this manner, * then sew 1 large bead to the top of the st below the dtr, one more on the top of the st below this one, and another on the top of the st below that one. Repeat from * 6 times. Fasten off.

Make a twisted cord approximately 58.5cm [23ins] long.

Beginning at edge of zip, crochet the two halves of your handmade purse together with a round of dc worked through both edges. Work 3rd and 4th and 3rd and 4th last sts through the end of the twisted cord to fasten it into place.

When you reach the other edge of the zip, continue along one half and finish the round, then reattach yarn and work other side to match. Fasten off.
