"Designer Coin Purse"

My designer coin purse is easy to make and looks very elegant.

I made this coin purse small so that it would easily slip into a pocket, pencil case, or lunch box.

The free beading pattern is a simple design to follow, and looks very effective.

This designer coin purse matches my handmade purse pattern.

Designer Coin Purse

Make 2 halves.

Begin by working 3ch, join with ss in 1st of 3ch to form a ring.

1st Round: Work 2ch, 15tr into ring, ss into 2nd ch.

2nd Round: Work 2ch, 1tr into join, 2tr in each tr, ss into 2nd of 2ch.

Cut 3 small squares of Velcro and position overlapping around edge [covering approximately 6cm – 2.25ins]. Pin in place and machine sew.

Thread sewing needle with black thread and beginning in the center of one purse half, attach thread to inside of work.

From wrong side, push needle through top edge of treble on first round. Thread one small silver bead, one long gold bead and another small silver bead over needle and down the thread.

Insert needle through very edge of same treble at center ring and pull through to wrong side. Knot thread on back of work after every group of beads like this is joined. Evenly space 10 groups like this on first row, alternating the combination of bead color as you go [small gold beads with a long silver one between them, followed by small silver ones with a long gold one between them].

Then move up to the next round and position the groups of beads on this round evenly between the groups on the previous round. Fasten off.

With wrong sides facing and beginning at edge to left of opening, crochet the two halves of your designer coin purse together with a round of dc worked through both edges.

When you reach the other edge of the opening, continue along one half and finish the round, then work other side to match. You may wish to make up your own beading design, or monogram your initial instead.

For a different finish, try sequins.
