"Crochet Beanie Hat"


My crochet beanie hat pattern is worked in contrasting colors showing off the stitches to full advantage. It can be created to match a crochet scarf or jumper.

The level of skill required is beginner to intermediate. It is worked in 8ply synthetic yarn with a 5.00mm crochet hook.

Materials: Main Color - 100g ball 8ply beige yarn, Contrast - 50g ball 8ply navy blue yarn, 5.00mm crochet hook.

Measurements: Approximately 18cm [7.25ins] around brim. Approximately 19cm [7.5ins] from top to brim.

Tension: First 6 rows – approximately 5.5cm [2.25ins]

Stitches: Chain, Slip Stitch, Double Crochet, Treble.

Crochet Beanie Hat Pattern

Beginning with M, work a 5ch loop, join with a ss to form a ring.

1st Round: Work 8dc into ring, ss in 1st dc.

2nd Round: Work 2dc into each dc, ss in 1st dc. Do not fasten off, keep yarn behind work.

3rd Round: Attach C to same place as ss, work 4ch, 1tr into join, * miss next dc, [1tr, 1ch, 1tr] in next st. Repeat from * finishing with 1ss into 3rd of 4ch. Do not fasten off, keep yarn behind work.

4th Round: Drag M up and attach to next 1ch sp. 3ch, 2tr into same sp, * 1tr into next sp after tr, 3tr into next 1ch sp. Repeat from * finishing with 1tr in last sp after tr, ss into 3rd of 3ch.

5th Round: Work 3ch, 1tr into each st, finishing with 1ss into 3rd of 3ch.

6th Round: Work as 3rd Round.

7th Round: Work as 4th Round.

8th Round: Work as 5th Round.

9th Round: Attach C to same place as ss, work 4ch, 1tr into join, * miss 1tr, [1tr, 1ch, 1tr] into next tr, miss next 2tr [1tr, 1ch, 1tr] into next tr, miss next 2tr, [1tr, 1ch, 1tr] into next tr. Repeat from * finishing with ss into 3rd of 4ch.

10th Round: Attach M to same place as ss, 3ch, 1tr into 1ch sp, *1tr into sp after next tr, 2tr into next 1ch sp. Repeat from * finishing with ss into 3rd of 3ch.

11th Round: Work 3ch, 1tr into each tr, finishing with 1ss into 1st of 3ch.

12th Round: Attach C to same place as ss, work 4ch, 1tr into join, * miss 2tr, [1tr, 1ch, 1tr] into next tr. Repeat from * finishing with 1ss into 3rd of 4ch.

13th Round: Work as 10th Round.

14th Round: Work 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * miss 1tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr. Repeat from * finishing with ss into 3rd of 3ch.

15th Round: Attach C. work 4ch, 1tr into join, * miss 2tr, [1tr, 1ch 1tr] into next tr. Repeat from * finishing with ss into 3rd of 4ch.

16th Round: Work as 10th Round.

17th Round: Work as 11th Round.

18th Round: Work as 15th Round. Fasten off.

Decorate the top of your crochet beanie hat with a pompom.
